A BRIEF STORY OF 25 YEARS AS A FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER.
I'm a native New Yorker. From the time I started in photography which was the mid 70's I worked and also lived both in New York and S. California. I'm permanently based in New York and also have shows of my work in both places.

How this all started. While in high school I started modeling. Eventually I went into acting mostly doing TV commercials. I really enjoyed being around the photo studio so eventually I represented & produced for a few photographers & directors. Someone asked what my real passion was... "TO BE A PHOTOGRAPHER" It was the mid 70's I was in California and I started by assisting Albert Watson. When he and his family moved to New York I returned home. Then I assisted Bruce Weber and rented part of O.Winston Links studio who really taught me black and white printing.

WORK from the late 70's to early 80's my work was in fashion and editorial photography. Then onto annual reports, and portraiture. Authors Portraits for their books and in California Portraits of celebrities and "Special Photography on feature movies" for advertising. Photographed the only advertising campaign for Rockefeller Center It was the mid 90's all B&W winning 5 Addy Awards. Mid 90's my client at Louis Vuitton asked me to document their Centennial at the Mercer Hotel in NY... that was my first event documentation and opened a new world of event photography, both NY & Calif. From Lincoln Center NY and other major NY venues to the Music Center LA The Shrine, & Academy Awards.

My Personal work is very much into nature from the beaches along the Calif. Coast to Martha's Vineyard and along the West Side of New York. Modern Dance companies fell into the photo passion so dancers are a focus and have had gallery shows of this work all in b/w. Do miss my darkroom but now shooting mostly digital and my computer is the new darkroom. I've been teaching photography on and off for years to young people and people at risk and teaching is an area I will continue to pursue. It's very rewarding and it feels that I learn more than I give sometimes.

Photography is a way of life and a great passion... I feel the photograph "shows a moment of time that no other medium can capture". Yes, I’m very lucky to have followed my passion and dreams regardless of the roller coaster ride the freelance world produces... it's my life.
